Hildesheim, January 2020: A huge thank you – KSM trainees donate to FiN Families in Need
In January 2020, Jörg Gustke, Head of Industrial Training at KSM, handed over a donation to FiN (Families in Need) on behalf of the Trainees of the KSM Castings Group. Gisela Sowa, the foundation‘s coordinator, accepted it for FiN.
The fundraising campaign already took place in December. The Hildesheim trainees renounced without further ado to the “Secret Santa” at their Christmas party and instead handed round collection boxes for the donations. As a result, respectable EUR 450 came together, which should now help young people, give advice in emergency situations and support them in taking a new and successful pathway.
Coordinator Gisela Sowa was visibly impressed that the donation came from a group of very young people. „A big thank you! It‘s great when young people engage and identify in social projects and also give support – this is remarkable and we are very happy. Unfortunately, we see in our daily work that requests for support are becoming more and more frequent,” reported Gisela Sowa. „It was our concern to do something sensible that directly helps and is well received,“ explained Justus Häusler, trainee and member of the youth and training representative at KSM.
Thomas Buschjohann, Head of Design & Engineering at the KSM Castings Group, thanked the trainees and praised their social interest and commitment. Buschjohann was the initiator and co-founder of the foundation “Families in Need”, which was founded more than ten years ago. Until today, he is Member of the FiN management and represents the KSM Castings Group there. “FiN represents a holistic commitment,” said Thomas Buschjohann,“ it‘s about education and participation, about creating and realizing opportunities, directly and unbureaucratically.”
In the past, the KSM trainees have initiated several campaigns under the direction of Jörg Gustke in favor of FiN. And Gustke also knows the other side because sometimes even someone among the own apprentices needs assistance to find its way. „When we in the company need help for colleagues, the support of FiN is very quickly and works easily,” confirmed Manuel Duarte, Head of the Works Council at the KSM Castings Group.
